Teens Nabbed with Marijuana in Bicycle Tires

Douglas, Ariz. – / N2N / – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Douglas, Ariz. stopped a drug smuggling attempt when they discovered two bicycles being ridden into the had marijuana concealed in the wheels.

The tire of a bicycle is split, revealing packages later shown to be marijuana.
Alert CBP officers in Arizona prevented two teens from riding bicycles into the U.S. that had marijuana stashed in the tires.
CBP Officers were screening travelers mid-day Friday when they observed two 15-year-old boys approaching the vehicle lanes. Each boy was riding a bicycle. Both boys were identified as Mexican nationals and residents of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico.
The officers searched the bicycles and found that the tires of both bicycles had been loaded with marijuana. The total weight of marijuana was about 7 pounds for an estimated street value of more than $11,000.
CBP seized the marijuana and bicycles. The boys were questioned by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and then released to the custody of their parents.
