CBP Opens New Aviation Facility in Pine Valley, Calif.

Campo, Calif. – / N2N / – U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air Marine dedicated a new aviation facility October 29 in Pine Valley, Calif.

The facility, located near the existing Campo Border Patrol Station, includes landing space for CBP helicopters, administrative space, and provides a new launching point further to the east in California for aircraft in CBP’s San Diego Air and Marine branch.

“Completing our mission securing the border requires we have the right mix of infrastructure, technology, and personnel,” said John Murphy, director of air operations for CBP in San Diego. “This additional infrastructure will give us added flexibility in how, where, and when we can deploy our resources to interdict illegal activity.”

The San Diego Air and Marine branch already features air units stationed at Brown Field Airport near Otay Mesa; North Island Naval Air Station on Coronado; Sacramento; and Riverside, Calif.

Aircraft launched from the new facility in Pine Valley will spend much of their time supporting local Border Patrol agents on the ground by providing surveillance, transporting agents to remote locations, and acting as a force multiplier supporting interdictions, in addition to responding to any possible illegal aerial activity along the border.
