TSA Lists Rapsican for Air Cargo Inspection

The Transportation and Security Administration’s candidate technology list for air cargo inspection includes four products made by Torrance, Calif.-based Rapsican Systems.
TSA added two new products and two the security inspection systems provider previously introduced.
“The Rapiscan 632DV and Rapiscan 638DV were developed and launched this year specifically for the emerging air cargo market,” said Ajay Mehra, Rapsican’s president. “Their inclusion on the TSA Candidate Technology List along with the previously introduced Rapiscan 620DV and Rapiscan MVXR5000 underscores our ability to develop solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
The TSA’s Certified Cargo Screening Program requires 100 percent inspection of air cargo carried on passenger airplanes by August 2010. To date Rapsican’s air cargo products have been deployed by indirect air carriers, passenger and cargo-only airlines, freight forwarders and other commercial freight companies.
Rapiscan Systems, a division of OSI Systems, supplies security inspection systems using X-ray and gamma-ray imaging, and advanced threat identification techniques such as neutron and diffraction analysis.
