CBP Announces New Albuquerque Port Director

Albuquerque, N.M. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection is announcing the appointment of Tracy Thorpe as the new Port Director for the Port of Albuquerque, N.M.
“I am looking forward to the many challenges and work opportunities Albuquerque has to offer, I will continue to strive to represent the El Paso Field Office and Albuquerque port of entry in a professional and positive manner,” said Albuquerque Port Director Tracy Thorpe
Thorpe. “I return to the U.S. with a great enthusiasm to continue my dedicated service.”
Mr. Thorpe is a 21-year veteran of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Port Director Thorpe began his career in Laredo, Texas in 1988 as a U.S. Border Patrol agent. In 1991 he moved west to accept a position as a U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service inspector in the San Diego District. The majority of his work for the next 13 years was at the San Ysidro port of entry. As a supervisor at the San Diego District Office sea port and airport, he coordinated the inaugural flight from San Diego International Airport. He was also a supervisor for the SENTRI program, prosecution unit, port enforcement team, intel unit, and service canines, and later was promoted to assistant port director.
In 2003, Thorpe transferred to the CBP pre-clearance station in Victoria, British Columbia, becoming port director in 2006.
Albuquerque is one of 10 international ports of entry that encompass the El Paso Field Office in West Texas and New Mexico including El Paso (four crossings), Fabens, Fort Hancock, Presidio, Santa Teresa, Columbus and Antelope Wells as well as CBP airport operations at El Paso and Santa Teresa.
“We are very excited to have Mr. Thorpe in charge of our operations in Albuquerque. His extensive knowledge and experience will help us continue to promote trade and tourism in New Mexico, while continuing to ensure that our border security objectives are met,” said Ana Hinojosa, director of Field Operations for CBP El Paso.
Mr. Thorpe is married and has one child currently attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.
